Earn 1 to 3 credits exploring the Peruvian Andes, Machu Picchu, and the Peruvian Rainforest!
This May Adventure WV and the Office of International Programs are offering a unique 2-week Study Abroad experience to the country of Peru. During these 2 weeks students will explore the rich culture and history of the Cusco region and the Incan culture. We will spend 4 days trekking Incan trails en route to the ancient city of Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World! After a full day at Machu Picchu we will fly deep in to the Peruvian rainforest for a 4 day stay at Tambopata Reserve and the Posada Amazonas eco-lodge, where we will enjoy canopy tours, jungle hikes, boat rides, and bird-watching tours!
Throughout our 2 week stay, students will learn about and participate in sustainable, community-based, eco-tourism initiatives in the Tambopata Reserve; we will explore the fascinating history and myths of the Incan culture and enjoy trails in the Andes mountains that, according to Backpacker Magazine, ‘Offer some of the best views and mountain experiences in South America”; all the while earning 1 to 3 WVU credits !!
